The Nutcracker

The Nutcracker

This truly lovely show has lots of scope to discuss issues of beating the bully!

Based on the magical story by ETA Hoffman, made famous by the wonderful music of Tchaikovsky. Our story starts at a Christmas party at the home of Clara and Fritz. Meet the kindly but mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer who gives Clara an enchanted nutcracker soldier . After the party Clara falls asleep with her beloved nutcracker in her arms. In her dreams that follow Clara is kidnapped by the wicked mouse king and taken to his palace but who should come to the rescue but her now life-sized and very much alive Nutcracker!
And that is just the beginning of this wonderful adventure. This is not a Ballet version but a musical feast of theatre, adventure and fun with plenty of our own music as well as Tchaikovsky's wonderful score. Meet the Mouse King and his loveable Rogue side-kick Stilton. Sing along with Pik and Mix our friends in the Kingdom of sweets and of course the story would not be complete without the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy (with a difference!) Suitable for R +KS1 (p1 –3 Scotland) only or a mixed KS2 (P4—7) and KS1 +R audience.

King Midas and his Donkey ears!

King Midas and his Donkey ears!

This show lends itself perfectly to a self esteem/"proud to be me" philosophy, acceptance of diversty and an "every child matters" approach! Or how about tackling that Greek topic with myths and legends?
Be careful what you wish for it might just come true! Poor King Midas not only has he made the mistake of wishing everything he touched turned to gold - here he is in another fine mess!
The god Dionysus takes pity on the foolish but kindly king and lifts the curse of the golden touch but at a price! Forced to judge the music competition (Ancient Greece has got talent!) between Apollo and Pan, Midas makes another error when the loser takes offence!! Horrified King Midas discovers he has donkey ears! Despite his wife making him a cunning disguise in the form of a rather tall hat - Will his secret get out? Will he be a laughing stock? That all depends on his barber and your children playing the lakeside reeds he trusts with the secret!
An hilarious brand new musical adaptation of the famous Greek Legend with a strong message of acceptance and diversity.
Suitability KS1 (P1 - 3/4 Scotland) or full age range together.

Puss in Boots

Puss in Boots

At our daughters' school three of the "watchwords" are perseverance, resiliance and diligence! Well Puss has these in bucket loads. Perhaps this show would be of use to you to look at these qualities. Need to look at facing and overcoming challenges? It ticks that box too!

When the miller dies the only thing he bequeaths to his son is the family cat!! What Jack doesn’t know, however, is that this is no ordinary cat……. This is a very special and very clever cat indeed!

Introducing Maximillion, Abercrombie, Arthur, Percy, Cedric Cat but you can call him Puss - everyone else does! All Puss requires is for Jack to spend the last of his money on a fine pair of boots, a rucksack and a rather nice hat with a feather in it. Rather dubious to say the least Jack duly trusts his friend and finds himself handsomely rewarded.

Puss pulls on his boots and sets off to seek their fame and fortune. Using all his cunning and trickery (sometimes exposing himself to great danger) Puss soon acquires for his master fine clothes, acres of land, a grand castle and…… well …. Who knows perhaps even the hand in marriage of  the beautiful  princess herself !!!

Your children will be delighted and enthralled as they follow the adventures of Puss and his master in this wonderful musical  adaptation of the classic  tale..

Suitability KS1 (P1-3/4 Scotland) or full age range together
